Department of Internet of Things Engineering

Established in 2010, the Department is one of the first institutions in China to offer an undergraduate program in IoT Engineering. It admitted its first cohort of IoT Engineering students in 2011. It currently has 17 full-time faculty members, including 2 doctoral supervisors, 5 professors, and 5 associate professors.

Program Highlights
  • Recognized as a National First-Class Undergraduate Program.

  • Research Platforms with the Shandong Provincial Engineering Center for Mining IoT and the Qingdao City Key Lab for IoT and Software.
  • Developed a "Device-Edge-Cloud" curriculum system including Embedded Systems, Intelligent Processing, and focusing on Industrial IoT and Mobile IoT.
  • Ranked 45th nationally (Grade A) in 2023.

Additionally, the Department has hosted over 10 Industry-University joint projects, published more than 200 papers in leading journals, and obtained more than 20 authorized patents. Faculty members have received multiple awards, including the Shandong Provincial Excellent Achievement Award and the Qingdao City Scientific Achievement Award.

Graduate Studies

Each year, a number of students are admitted for graduate studies without national examination. Alumni pursue advanced degrees at top institutions including Tsinghua University, Peking University, CAS, Beihang University, Tongji University, East China Normal University, and international universities.

Career Outcomes

Graduates are employed at leading IT companies such as Huawei, Baidu, and Xiaomi, demonstrating strong industrial recognition.
