The College of Computer Science and Engineering was renamed in July 2016 from the School of Information Science and Engineering (established in April 2000). Its predecessor was the Department of Applied Mathematics and Software Engineering, founded in 1985. In April 2018, the Tencent Cloud AI Institute was established, jointly operating under the College of Computer Science and Engineering. In 2021, it was approved as one of the first batch of Shandong Province Modern Industry Colleges. The college currently comprises 5 departments, 1 experimental center, and 9 administrative offices.

The college offers five undergraduate programs: Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Internet of Things Engineering, Information Security, and Intelligent Science and Technology.
- Computer Science and Technology and Software Engineering are national first-class programs and have passed engineering education accreditation.
- Internet of Things Engineering is a national first-class program, with accreditation application accepted and currently in self-evaluation phase.
- All five programs ranked in the ShanghaiRanking's 2023 Best Chinese Universities Ranking, with Computer Science and Technology and Internet of Things Engineering rated A (top 10%).

- Academician Fuqing Yang, of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a renowned computer scientist, serves as Honorary Dean.
